Opposites Contest
The talented and tireless photographer actonephotos (https://www.deviantart.com/actonephotos) is running a contest with a fun theme: Interpreting Opposites.
From his journal:
Want to win a subscription? Here's the deal: find an existing work on dA that you admire and create a new piece of art that represents its opposite (just be sure to get the artist's permission first).
First Weekend Outdoors in Colorado
The drive over was an experience in itself.

I finally got to meet up with actonephotos (https://www.deviantart.com/actonephotos), whose photography I've been watching for a while now. It was a real treat to visit Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak with him, as his enthusiasm for photography rubbed off on me.

This guy's dedication for capturing a good shot is pretty impressive. Dangling an expensive camera out of a moving vehicle with 1 hand, standing on the edge of a cliff for a better angle, and forcing a park ranger to get on her loud speaker not once, but thrice, to shoo us out of the park as it was closing, were all clear indicators.

Happy 8th Birthday, dA
It's hard to imagine that deviantART is only 8 years old. It feels like a lifetime ago when I was trawling v1 of the site for tile/sprite artists.
dA's birthday also roughly marks the 1 year anniversary of my joining staff. In that time I've learned a lot from everyone:
Most of all, I've learned what art really is from so many of you in the dA community. Because of you I had the confidence to try photography (and some of you *cough*actonephotos (https://www.deviantart.com/actonephotos)*cough* have kept me from stopping).
`silvein (https://www.deviantart.com/silvein) was my first friend and roommate in the company. Luckily, we both enjoy electronic and trance music, because we had it playing non-stop for the first
